National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard.

The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is proposing a new rule that would require food manufacturers and other entities that label foods for retail sale to disclose information about BE food and BE food ingredient content. The proposed rule is intended to provide a mandatory uniform national standard for disclosure of information to consumers about the BE status of foods. AMS seeks comments on the proposed rule. This proposed rule also announces AMS' intent to request approval by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) of new information collection and recordkeeping requirements to implement the proposed BE food disclosure standard.

DKS 2648: 2015 Health, safety and environmental guidelines for the construction and operation of timber treatment plants

This standard serves as a practical guide on occupational health and safety and environmental aspects in and around timber treatment plants with the intention to reduce health and safety and environmental risks. Regulations Amending Certain Regulations Made Under Section 89, Subsection 93(1) and Section 114 of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999

Environment and Climate Change Canada proposes to amend nine Regulations in order to make required changes to improve the clarity and consistency of the regulatory texts and to keep references to standards up to date.

Furthermore, the proposed amendments aim to respond to concerns, comments and recommendations from the Standards Council of Canada, the Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations and the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development.

The notified Order provides for the mandatory implementation of three standards:

NF U42-001/A12 – Engrais – Dénominations et spécifications (Standard NF U42-001/A12 – Fertilizers – Designations and specifications)

This Standard amends Standard NF U42-001 of December 1981 on organic fertilizers of animal and/or plant origin.

It supplements Amendment A10 to NF U42-001:1981 which applies to products that meet the current definition of organic fertilizers of animal and/or plant origin. Draft Standard NF U42-001/A12 amends Standard NF U42-001 on fertilizers, and applies to fertilizers derived from anaerobically-digested and composted slurry.

It also establishes the designations, specifications, minimum levels of nutrients, declared contents and other identification markings for this type of organic fertilizer.

NF U44-003 – Amendements basiques contenant des matières d'intérêt agronomique issues du traitement biologique des eaux (Standard NF U44-003 – Basic soil amendments containing materials of agronomic interest derived from biological water treatment)

This Standard establishes the designations, definitions, specifications, and labelling requirements for, and the characteristics of basic soil amendments containing materials of agronomic interest, derived from the biological treatment of urban waste water at waste water treatment plants governed by the Water Law, and treated with lime.

This Resolution provides for the ban on the active ingredient Paraquat in pesticides in the country and for transitional risk mitigation measures.
The production, importation, commercialization and use of technical and formulated products with the active ingredient Paraquat are prohibited after three (3) years from the date of publication of this Resolution
