The main objective of the agreement is to strengthen Icelandic agriculture and provide the sector with the largest possible variety of opportunities for expansion. The aim of the agreement is to provide the agricultural sector with a framework conducive to creating economic value and to making the most of opportunities present in the country's rural areas, for the benefit of farmers, consumers and society at large. This development must be founded on specificity, sustainability and diversity. For that purpose, the agreement contains provisions on new projects designed to strengthen the operational basis of the agricultural sector and promote development and innovation.
