3.33. (...) Since 2014, Myanmar has been part of the countries that implement the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) to improve its practices in natural resources exploitation and financial management. The Government takes this process very seriously and takes pride in the progress made. The country was admitted as an EITI candidate in 2014. Its validation against the EITI Standard commenced on 1 July 2018. On 16 October 2019, the EITI Board found Myanmar to have made meaningful progress in implementing the EITI Standard.
