The Government has developed a policy towards converting Suriname into a major food producer and supplier of the Caribbean. The strategy is to increase the export of agricultural products by first increasing the agricultural production in a sustainable way. The effort to achieve this strategic goal is a shared responsibility between the private sector and the government. The Government has decided to create conditions to support the agricultural sector, which are necessary if we want to become a major food provider of the Caribbean.

Three major African and global changes are likely to affect the Guinean digital sector:
• The Millennium Development Goals have been replaced by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which now prioritize climate-change prevention ahead of combating poverty, which involves mobilizing digital technology among half of the world's population;

The Green Aviation Research and Development Network (GARDN), a business-led network of centres of excellence (BL-NCE) with an initial budget of approximately Can$23 million for 2009-13, aims at promoting aerospace technologies for the protection of the environment

Under the new Mining Code, mining title holders are required to observe the norms in force for the protection of the environment, and an environmental impact assessment by the Ministry of the Environment is required.

Government is also granting incentives to encourage the use of solar and photovoltaic systems in both commercial and residential sectors in its efforts to reduce the high fuel import bill of the country.

On services, the GSFTA (GCC-Singapore Free Trade Agreement) builds on the commitments made by Singapore and the GCC countries at the multilateral level, in particular, the WTO General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS). Specifically, Singapore and the GCC have committed to liberalize various services sectors beyond its WTO commitments. Since its last TPR, New Zealand has engaged actively in trade and environment negotiations at the WTO. New Zealand has and will continue to support ambitious outcomes in these negotiations. In particular, ambitious outcomes on fisheries subsidies and on the elimination of tariffs on a broad range of environmental goods have the potential to deliver concrete economic, environmental and developmental benefits.
