9.1. In 2015, the Government established a Standards and Quality Assurance Department in the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. The core functions of the department are to monitor products imported into the country and exported for compliance with quality, safety, health and environmental standards in line with World Trade Organization (WTO) agreements.
