Proposal for amendment to the legal inspection regulation for electric storage drink water heaters.

Electric storage drink water heaters have been subject to mandatory inspection under the Commodity Inspection Act by the Bureau of Standards Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) since 1 January 1992. In line with the energy policy, the BSMI proposes to require that electric storage drink water heaters be subject to Sections 10.7 "capacity of inner tank test" and 10.8 "standardized standby loss of every 24 hours Est,24 test" of CNS 12623, where the measured value (Est,24) shall comply with that stated in "Requirements on Minimum Energy Performance Standard (MEPS) for electric storage tank boiling water heaters."

General explanation for the draft of restrictions on the importing of mercury-added products.

The Environmental Protection Adminstration previously announced the enactment of the "Restrictions on the Imports and Sales of Mercury Thermometers" on March 26, 2008. In addition, on July 5, 2019, it announced the amendments to the "Listed Toxic Chemical Substances and the Handling Control Measures" to ban the use of mercury in the manufacture of switches, relays, high-pressure mercury lamps for general lighting, and non-electronic measuring instruments from January 1, 2021. It is the timetable for the announced ban on the manufacture of the aforementioned mercury-added products. As for imports, further control is required. In view of the harm of mercury to the environment and human health, with the development of electronic equipment and consumer electronics, the demand for the use of mercury-added products has been decreasing. Therefore, to be in line with the "Minamata Convention on Mercury", it is announced that from January 1, 2021, the imports of mercury-added switches, relays, high-pressure mercury lamps for general lighting, and non-electronic measuring instruments (barometers, hygrometers, manometers, thermometers, sphygmomanometers, etc.) are prohibited to strengthen domestic mercury control and achieve the goal of maintaining enviromental safety.

Proposal for Legal Inspection Requirements for Double-capped LED Lamps.

The use of double-capped LED lamps is becoming prevalent in domestic households. To enhance consumer protection and promote efficiency of energy use, the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) proposes to regulate double-capped LED lamps in aspects of safety (CNS 15438, CNS 15829, CNS 15983 or CNS 62931), performance (CNS 16027), EMC (CNS 14115) and use of hazardous substances (Section 5 of CNS 15663) . The conformity assessment procedure will be Registration of Product Certification Scheme (Module II+III) or Type-approved Batch Inspection Scheme.

Amendment to the Minimum Energy Performance Standard and Energy Efficiency Rating Labelling and Inspection of Electric Storage Tank Water Heaters (4 page(s), in English; 4 page(s), in Chinese).

To strengthen energy efficiency supervision and inspection, the Bureau of Energy intends to amend the Energy Efficiency Rating Labelling and Inspection of Electric Storage tank Water Heaters to reduce heat loss.

Announcement for Mandatory Requirement for Water Efficiency Labelling Products of water equipment, sanitary ware or other equipment.

To promote the use of water saving equipment in daily life, the Water Resource Agency proposes to designate flush urinals as one of the products which should have Water Efficiency Labels. It is to be in line with Article 95-1 of the Water Supply Act amended on 4 May 2016.

Laundry detergents - Compulsory requirements.

This standard establishes compulsory requirements for laundry detergents. It specifies the chemical requirements for key parameters and also includes requirements for labelling of the packaging used for laundry detergents.

This national standard is applicable to laundry detergent that is intended primarily for washing textile products using washing machines designed for household applications or by manual means.

This Tanzania standard provides requirements for labeling of genetically modified organisms ( GMOs ) and derived products intended for use as food, feed or ingredients. The standard shall not apply to food, feed or their ingredients containing genetically modified organisms and derived products in proportions of less than 0.9% of the total weight of the product.
