Medical face masks - Requirements and test methods.

This document specifies construction, design, performance requirements and test methods for medical face masks intended to limit the transmission of infective agents from staff to patients during surgical procedures and other medical settings with similar requirements. A medical face mask with an appropriate microbial barrier can also be effective in reducing the emission of infective agents from the nose and mouth of an asymptomatic carrier or a patient with clinical symptoms. This European Standard is not applicable to masks intended exclusively for the personal protection of staff. NOTE 1 Standards for masks for use as respiratory personal protective equipment are available. NOTE 2 Annex A provides information for the users of medical face masks.

Respiratory protective devices - Particle filters - Requirements, testing, marking.

This Standard specifies particle filters for use as components in unassisted respiratory protective devices with the exception of escape apparatus and filtering facepieces. Laboratory tests are included for the assessment of compliance with the requirements. Some filters complying with this Standard may also be suitable for use with other types of respiratory protective devices and, if so, shall be tested and marked according to the appropriate Standard.

Prohibition of import and transhipment of certain goods ( waste paper) to the Macao Special Administrative Region.

Order of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and the Green and Digital Economy providing for the mandatory application of Moroccan standards.

The notified Order provides for:
• The mandatory application of 42 new Moroccan standards (listed in section 9 below), with a view to enhancing industrial product control;
• The repeal of Orders that provide for the mandatory application of the outdated versions of 25 Moroccan standards; and the mandatory application of existing equivalent standards.
Product control will be carried out in Morocco at approved laboratories, except for lighting columns and insulators for overhead lines, which will undergo controls in the country of dispatch.

(Draft Mexican Official Standard PROY-NOM-234-SCFI-2019, Vehicle natural gas. Minimum safety requirements for vehicle systems (cancelling NOM-011-SECRE-2000).

The publication of draft Mexican Official Standard PROY-NOM-234-SCFI-2019, "Vehicle natural gas. Minimum safety requirements for vehicle systems" (cancelling NOM-011-SECRE-2000) is notified.

The notified Mexican Official Standard establishes the minimum safety requirements to be met by installations of natural gas systems for use in vehicles. It also establishes the relevant conformity assessment procedure.

Draft Mexican Official Standard PROY-NOM-020-SCT2/-2020: General specifications for the design, construction and testing of road tankers used to transport hazardous substances, materials and waste , SCT Specifications SCT 406, SCT 407 and SCT 412).

The notified draft Mexican Official Standard seeks to establish general specifications for the design, construction and testing of road tankers, under SCT Specifications SCT 406, SCT 407 and SCT 412, used to transport hazardous substances, materials and waste which circulate on general communication routes under federal jurisdiction.

Draft Mexican Official Standard PROY-NOM-011/1-SCT2/2020: Specifications for transporting certain classes of hazardous substances or materials packaged/packed in excepted quantities - Specifications for transporting products including to the final consumer.

The notified draft Mexican Official Standard seeks to establish safety provisions governing certain classes of hazardous substances or materials ( hazardous goods), duly packaged/packed in excepted quantities for their transportation and/or products for the final consumer or for sale to the public, made from any hazardous substance or material, which may be transported in units other than those for specialized cargo for transporting hazardous materials.

Road transporters using general communication routes to transport certain classes of hazardous substances or materials (dangerous goods) and products for the final consumer or for sale to the public, duly packaged/packed in excepted quantities and small quantities, shall be exempted, respectively, from the requirement to obtain the permit referred to in Article 5, in accordance with Article 48.2 of the Regulations on Land Transport of Hazardous Materials and Waste .

Environment Protection (Control of Single use Plastic Products) Regulations 2020.

Salient features of the regulations
"No person shall import for home consumption, manufacture, possess, sell, supply or use any non- biodegradable single use plastic product specified in Part I of the Second Schedule."
• Part I of the second schedule comprises of the following single use plastics products: Cutlery (forks, knives, spoons, chopsticks), Plate, Cup, Bowl, Tray, Straw, Beverage stirrer, Hinged container, plastic lid for single use plastic product and plastic receptacles of any shape, with or without lid, used to contain food which is intended for immediate consumption, either on the spot or take away and supplied by a food service business.
• As from 15 January 2021, the above mentioned single use plastic products will be banned. However, three single use plastic products, namely, plastic tray, plastic hinged container and sealed plastic straws forming an integral part of the packaging of another product will be banned as from 15 April 2021.

"No person shall import or manufacture a biodegradable single use product specified in the First Schedule unless he is registered with the Director."
• The First Schedule comprises all of the above listed products but which are made of material other than plastic such as wood, paper, paper pulp, Kraft paper, cellulose, bagasse, bamboo, palm, edible cutlery, and bio -based polymer such as Poly (lactic) acid (PLA), CPLA, PBS.

Importers and manufacturers of biodegradable single use products are required to be registered at the Department of Environment prior to importation or manufacture.

GN 197 of 2020 Environment Protection (Banning of Plastic Bags) Regulations 2020.

As from 01 March 2021, the possession, use, distribution, selling, exportation, importation, manufacture or supply of plastic bags will be banned with certain exemptions as provided in First Schedule of the Regulations.

The importation or manufacture of an exempt plastic bag or a biodegradable plastic bag or a compostable plastic bag will be subject to registration with the Director of Environment. A Certificate of Registration will be issued which will be valid for a period of three years and will be renewed.

Furthermore, the importation or manufacture of a biodegradable plastic bag or a compostable plastic bag will be subject to obtention of a clearance the Director of Environment. [...]

Alcohol-Based Hand Sanitizers Regulations: Standards Act, 2005
Purpose of regulations
(a) covers the quality and safety requirements of alcohol-based hand sanitisers for consumer use and for use as health care personnel handrub;
(b) include the terminology, formulations packaging, marking or labelling requirements as they apply to a product, process or production process; and
(c) compel a manufacturer or importer to meet the requirements of the NAMS/SANS 490 and the WHO Recommendations for ethanol and/or isopropyl alcohol content and alcohol identification.
