Electric warming plates

EC 60335-2-12:2002+A1:2008+A2:2017 deals with the safety of electric warming plates, warming trays and similar appliances intended to keep food or vessels warm, for household and similar purposes, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V.

Microwave ovens, including combination microwave ovens

IEC 60335-2-25:2020 is available as IEC 60335-2-25:2020 RLV which contains the International Standard and its Redline version, showing all changes of the technical content compared to the previous edition. IEC 60335-2-25:2019 deals with the safety of microwave ovens for household and similar use, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V.

Sulphur in gasoline

The Sulphur in Gasoline Regulations (the Regulations) limit the sulphur content of gasoline that is produced in or imported into Canada. The transition to lower sulphur gasoline in Canada leading to 2020 was established through amendments made to the Regulations in 2015. A temporary sulphur compliance unit (SCU) trading system was established to provide gasoline refiners with compliance flexibility during the transition to lower sulphur concentrations in gasoline while they made capital investments and technological improvements to comply with the mandatory sulphur limits for 2020 and beyond.

Dangerous substances and preparations

The technical regulations for the classification, labelling and packaging of substances and preparations will be updated and thus adapted to technical progress in the EU (15th ATP of the EU CLP Regulation; binding from 1 March 2022)

Genetically modified plants, plant material, seeds and animals

Switzerland has adopted in a public voting in November 2005 a moratorium on the cultivation of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in Switzerland. This moratorium, introduced for a first period until 27 November 2010, was renewed until 27 November 2013, and then for a second time until 31 December 2017 and a third time until 31 December 2021, as notified in G/TBT/N/CHE/227 under the WTO Agreement on technical barriers to trade. On 11 November 2020, the Federal Council has decided to propose a further renewal until 31 December 2025. This proposal is currently undergoing a consultation and is planned to enter into force as from 1 August 2022.

Washing machines

The notified Protocol establishes the certification procedure and energy efficiency labelling requirements for electric washing machines for household use with or without heating devices and with a hot and/or cold water supply.
