Extension and advisory services: Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS): Conservation Operations - Extension, advisory, and training service functions.In providing technical assistance, USDA agencies explain and determine eligibility for conservation programs, help develop individual conservation plans, help install approved practices, provide information and educational assistance, and consult with universities and other government agencies. NRCS also conducts soil surveys, assesses erosion factors, and conducts snow surveys.

Payments for relief from natural disasters: Farm Service Agency (FSA): Emergency loans - Emergency loans provides emergency funding and technical assistance for farmers and ranchers to rehabilitate farmland damaged by natural disasters and for carrying out emergency water conservation measures in periods of severe drought.

5. Nuclear Safety and Control Act - The Nuclear Safety and Control Act (S.C., 1997, c.9): comprehensive regulatory control system for the import, export, transfer, possession and use of nuclear substances, prescribed equipment and prescribed information (technology) . Under this system, any person proposing to conduct these activities in Canada must do so only in accordance with a license. The Commission may not issue a license unless it is satisfied that the applicant is qualified to conduct the activity to be authorized, and that the applicant will make adequate provision for the protection of the environment , the health and safety of persons, and the maintenance of national security and measures required to implement international obligations to which Canada has agreed.
