Support is provided for dairy farms, sheep farms and horticulture farms (greenhouse).
Type of measure
Agricultural subsidies in Iceland is mostly provided through direct payments, based on payment entitlements, which are directly or indirectly coupled with production factors. Direct payments are provided to cattle (mainly dairy) and sheep producers, and, on a smaller scale, to certain greenhouse producers.

Measure description Coverage of the measure
Renewable Energy: The Renewable Energy Technology Center supports technological ventures and R&D projects starting from the stages of applied academic research and early stage entrepreneurship. The center enables testing and trials for products undergoing development and demonstration. The Center is operated by the private sector, composed of strategic investors and an academic institute. The Center's activities are carried out in development areas in the southern part of the country (Eilat region).
Companies and entrepreneurs who wish to carry out projects that require technological R&D in the renewable energy and energy efficiency fields.
The Renewable Energy Technology Center supports projects in relevant technological fields, such as solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, alternative fuels, energy efficiency, smart grid, energy storage and more.
Type of measure
Financial support of 85% of R&D expenditures is available for projects that have not previously received government support as part of one of the Authority's programs, except for the Primary sub-program of the Renewable Energy Technology Center.

Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Improving Energy Efficiency Programme
The subsidy is provided to an entity that owns or has the rights for at least 5 years lease over a plot of land and wishes to carry out an energy efficiency project, or to an Energy Service Company (ESCO) that has a license from the Ministry of Energy.
Type of measure
Grants are given for the costs of preliminary planning of energy efficiency project, expenses for the purchase and installation of equipment and machinery, and technologies required to upgrade or replace existing technologies.
