The Danish Rural Development Programme 2014 – 2020: Habitats for Annex IV species:
The purpose of the scheme is to ensure or improve habitats of species listed in Annex IV of the Habitats Directive.
Support under the scheme is given to projects that secures or improves the habitats of: Sandlizard, Northern birch mice and amphibians on the EU's Habitats Directive Annex IV.

The Danish Rural Development Programme 2014 – 2020: Natureprojects on organogenic land: The purpose of the scheme is to convert arable, organogenic land into permanent grass and discontinue drainage so that the soil becomes wet.
This will enhance carbon sequestration because of the high carbon content in this soil type. In addition to soil carbon sequestration, GHG effects comprise reductions in nitrous oxide and methane emissions. Additional benefits are reduced nitrate leaching and ammonia evaporation.

The Danish Rural Development Programme 2014 – 2020: Establishment of landscape and biotope-improving vegetations, including shelter plants:
The establishment of landscape and biotope-improving vegetation will help to increase the proportion of small biotopes and improve landscape values on farms.
The vegetation may both give favourable living conditions for the natural flora and fauna and also increase public amenity assets in rural areas.

The Danish Rural Development Programme 2014 – 2020: Grants for afforestation on private land: The purpose of the support scheme is to establish new private forest lands to improve water quality and nature by reducing the influx of nitrogen to lakes, fjords and inner seas, cf. Aquatic Environment Plan III.
In order to achieve the above aim, support is given for the establishment of forest on agricultural land.

The Danish Rural Development Programme 2014 – 2020: Grants for forest for biodiversity:
The purpose of the support scheme is to contribute to securing stable habitats for forest dwelling species, and maintain valuable natural environment in forests.
The support scheme priorities areas and species protected by the Habitat Directive to implement the Natura 2000 plans. The purpose of the support scheme is pursued by the following activities and investments such as:
• Extensive forestry (activity);
• Coppice forestry (activity);
• Forest gracing (investment and activity);
• Forest wetlands (investment and activity);
• Trees for natural decay (activity);
• Clearing of undesired growth (investment);
• Special efforts for protected species (investment).

The Danish Rural Development Programme 2014 – 2020: Grants for sustainable forestry – Forest Regeneration and Green Management Plan:
The purpose of the support scheme is to promote sustainable forest management.
The purpose of the support scheme is pursued by subsidising investments such as converting non-native coniferous forest stands to native broadleaf stands or management plans to protect valuable natural environment in forests.

The Danish Rural Development Programme 2014 – 2020: Targeted regulation of nitrogen: The subsidy aims to ensure that there is an improvement in the environmental condition of the coastal waters. You may therefore apply for grants to ensure the establishment of catch crops or alternative nitrogen-reducing measures, which are intended to prevent excess nitrogen from being discharged into the aquatic environment. The scheme must ensure a targeted effort in the areas where there is a need to reduce nitrogen emissions.

The Danish Rural Development Programme 2014 – 2020:The Danish Rural Development Programme 2014 – 2020: Business development: The purpose of the scheme is to promote sustainable agricultural enterprises and forest holdings through the development and application of new technologies, while also reducing undesirable effects on the surrounding society.
Environmentally efficient technologies represent a growth area with considerable employment and export potential. The promotion of and support for knowledge exchange and incentives for using new efficient technologies to overcome environmental problems and initiate new production can help the agricultural, forestry and food sectors to remain competitive. Businesses engaged in agriculture and forest holdings may therefore apply for the grants to enhance knowledge exchange and development of technology.

Animal welfare programme: The programme supports animal welfare organizations and animal shelters rescuing and helping abandoned, abused, mistreated and distressed animals in need for care. Another part of the programme supports campaigns educating and informing the public and animal owners how to treat and take care of animals (not productions animals). The aim is to improve the well-being and health of animals in Denmark.
The programme is provided as a grant where applicants apply for a specific project or veterinary costs, animal transport costs or other operating costs.
