Queensland: Biofutures Industry Development Fund (BIDF): The BIDF is a key initiative within the Advance Queensland Biofutures 10-Year Roadmap and Action Plan launched on 5 June 2016, which outlines the strategic direction for the development of a new Queensland industry producing sustainable fuels, bioenergy and high-value bioproducts.
The BIDF provides funding to financially assist companies complete due diligence and achieve financial close to allow better access to venture capital markets.

Measure description Coverage of the measure
Queensland: Biofutures Industry Development Fund (BIDF): The BIDF is a key initiative within the Advance Queensland Biofutures 10-Year Roadmap and Action Plan launched on 5 June 2016, which outlines the strategic direction for the development of a new Queensland industry producing sustainable fuels, bioenergy and high-value bioproducts.
The BIDF provides funding to financially assist companies complete due diligence and achieve financial close to allow better access to venture capital markets.
Funding has been allocated to international and local proponents with funding agreements in place detailing milestones and payment schedules.

Queensland: Waste levy exemptions and discounts: The Waste levy imposes a levy on waste delivered to a levyable waste disposal site; certain waste is exempt from the levy or levied at a discounted rate.
Relevant discounts include the following prescribed recycling activities:
e-waste recycling to separate e-waste into clean streams of individual components and materials;
re-purposing e-waste for re-use;
paper and cardboard recycling to produce new paper and cardboard products;
plastic recycling using an extrusion process or a washing and flaking process to produce components for use in new products;
plastic recycling of soft plastics to produce components for use in new products;
tyre recycling to produce rubber output to a particular specification and particle size;
reclaimed timber recycling or sorting for re-use;
reclaimed timber recycling or sorting for processing for production of new timber products.

Relevant exemptions include:
 earth contaminated with a hazardous contaminant from land recorded in the environmental management register or contaminated land register; and
 waste to be used at a levyable waste disposal site for a purpose necessary for the operation of the site, including, for example, building infrastructure, temporary or daily covering, progressive capping, batter construction, final capping, profiling and site rehabilitation.

Queensland: Queensland Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Jobs Fund: In June 2020, the Government announced a AUD 1.5 billion increase to the AUD 500 million Queensland Renewable Energy Fund to establish the AUD 2 billion Queensland Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Jobs Fund. The Fund forms part of the AUD 3.43 billion Queensland Jobs Fund.
The purpose of the Fund is to increase investment by Queensland energy Government owned corporations (GOCs) in commercial renewable energy and hydrogen projects, along with supporting infrastructure, including in partnership with the private sector. This will advance the State towards the 50% Queensland renewable energy target by 2030 (QRET), create jobs and growth, and further establish Queensland as a leader in renewable energy and hydrogen.

Four public calls for application were conducted and all grantee projects were finalised in the 2020/21 financial year.

Tasmania: Abalone Industry Reinvestment Fund (AIRF): The fund is administered by a committee consisting of members from the Tasmanian Abalone Council, the Tasmanian Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment and the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies.
The broad objectives of the Abalone Industry Reinvestment Fund are to support and increase the sustainability and productivity of the abalone fishery both biologically and economically. The fund will support projects to reduce the long spined sea urchin population of the East Coast of Tasmania. It will also support projects to increase abalone stock rates, including larval seeding.
