General services: Other general services: Directorate-General of Natural Resources (DGRN) of the MGAP: the Directorate is responsible for promoting the rational use and management of natural resources with a view to achieving sustainable development within the agricultural sector and helping to preserve biodiversity. Its tasks include: promoting and regulating the integrated and sustainable use and management of natural resources (soil, water) used in agriculture, with a focus on watershed areas; establishing, developing and managing the Geographical Information System for Natural Resources; approving land and water use and management plans related to the granting of permits or concessions for the private use of public water for agricultural irrigation purposes; interpreting satellite images for land use studies; and promoting the conservation of surface water for agricultural use through the formulation of technical usage guidelines.
